single pieces
As a painter, my diverse and individual styles make it difficult to categorize my work within art history. In the early 1990s, I developed “Tendentialism” and “Epistemic Art” as independent painting and stylistic directions. However, among the more than 600 artworks on my current catalog, there are many unique pieces that defy classification. These singular works are grouped under this category.

„the vision“ / „die Schauung”
No. 479, „the vision“ / „die Schauung“, 2015, 120 x 101 cm, framed
This painting by Uly Paya is an absolutely unique piece of recent times. There are only two smaller works from this period in a similar style. The image shows an organic, weathered figure full of vitality. The radiant structure and details emphasize transience and the processes of erosion and transformation in nature. The character looks deeply into these events. She looks. She has visions. Muted beige, brown and gray tones create an earthy atmosphere, while dark stripes add depth and contrast. The extended edges symbolize growth and look for something new in the vision. It seems as if the figure has no eyes at all, yet it can see much further into the spheres of existence. The look combines the cycles of life and pairs them with quiet resilience and elegant naturalness. A contemporary masterpiece. It is currently still owned by the artist. A simple wooden frame currently gives the picture a simple finish. The transport of this picture is carried out by a special art transport company.

“Happening Perception of Space” \ “Das Freiwerden der Erkenntnis v. Raume”
No. 144, mixed on wood, 1993, 58 x 44 cm, framed
One of my most famous paintings that show my “cognitiontrees” for the very first time. This painting was exhibited in exhibitions.
This painting is not for sale.

“The Church of Saint Johann in Villach \ Carinthia \ South Austria”
No. 183, 1995, 70 x 88cm, oil on canvas, framed
The image depicts the Church of St. John with a deep connection to the inner energies of faith and the cosmos. The abstract shapes and energetic swirls around the church show this dynamic relationship between faith itself and the universe. The use of bold colors such as red and blue, coupled with the lonely silhouette of the church, shows the tension and contrast between earthly existence and the expansive, unknowable energy of the universe. The picture is an early work and was created in Villach. I often walked to this church and let my thoughts run free around the church with a view of Villach. There are two huge linden trees next to the small church.

“the digitization of the world” \ “Die Digitalisierung der Welt”
No. 236, 1997, 81 x 116 cm, oil on canvas, framed
The image I created in 1997 questions the concept of identity. It represents a reality distorted by digitalization and reflects the physical reaction to external influences such as technology and digitalization. Digitalization is increasingly and profoundly influencing the way we interact with ourselves and each other. It is changing the way we present our identities online, how we experience emotions (through social media or virtual spaces), and even how we process and communicate information. The human aspect of this change is that while digital offers enormous opportunities, it also brings challenges, especially when it comes to maintaining our authentic selves in the midst of this transformation. With digital and ephemeral presence playing an important role today, we may find ourselves increasingly disconnected and disconnected from physical reality, which could lead to a fragmentation of our identity. This could also be a danger of AI, as algorithms take the place of developing one’s own, reflective and human self. Evolution may be taking a leap into uncertain and worrying ice-cold water here. As a computer child from the very beginning, I dealt a lot with computers, programming and how circuits work. The development of this digitalization represented my subconscious in this unique piece. This allowed me to manifest and immortalize it.

“the recovery” \ “Die Entdeckung”
No. 480, 2015, 70 x 100 cm, acryl on canvas, framed
Like all individual pieces, there is no series here. This painting shows the curiosity of research and discovery. The figure on the right resembles a demon or a force that symbolizes this curiosity. The question of why people want to explore everything is embedded in this work.

“the inner demon” \ “Der innere Dämon”
No. 485, 2015, 100 x 100 cm, acryl on canvas, framed
We confront ourselves with our ego throughout our lives. And in many situations demons come and confront us with the ancestors, the now and the self. What do they tell us? What should we do with them? The image belongs to an epic song “not on the run”, which is about no longer running away from your own demons. They are part of ourselves. When we run away, we deceive ourselves. That’s what this work of art stands for. It was also used as the cover for the book “Faust III”.

“small painting of wish” \ “Kleines Wunschbild”
No. 226, 1997, 38 x 42 cm, oil on canvas, framed
A picture that already hangs as a print in countless homes. It primarily symbolizes “love”.

“lockdown”
No. 525, 2001, 60 x 80cm, mixed on canvas, framed
Feelings during the first lockdown in my life. It was a cave for everyone I think…

“soul ego” \ “Das Seelen-Ich”
No. 461, 2010, 100 x 100 cm, acryl and oil on canvas, framed
The picture was taken between 2003 and 2010, when I finished it. It is one of the few works from 2010. It shows the idea of the innermost core of one’s soul.

“happy flash light distributor” \ “Glücklicher Blitzlichtverteiler”
No. 424, 2019, 80 x 60 cm, acrylic on canvas, framed
